So much has changed since I blogged last. I was going to try to keep everyone updated with my pregnancy and the nursery and then we had the biggest surprise on October 19th! I woke up to my water breaking that morning, and I had my little Lillian Kathryn 6 weeks early! We were on quite the roller coaster the first 3 weeks of her life, but she is now 11 weeks old and doing GREAT! I will be back with pictures and to tell you the birth story, but for now I've just been enjoying every minute at home with my little girl! I just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year. 2011 was an amazing year for our family.

This year one of my big goals is to take better pictures. I am working on purchasing a new lens at the moment. My hubby bought me Photoshop Elements for Christmas. Both of these things should help. Not only do I want to take better pictures, I want to organize and edit as I take them. This means I can't wait to upload them to my computer 2 months after I take the pictures! :) We will see how it goes. Here's to 2012. Hope it's happy and healthy for everyone!

8 Months~

How far along? 32.5 Wks
Maternity clothes? Mixture of maternity and non-maternity clothes. It's actually working out pretty well! Looooove leggings!
Sleep: It's OK...usually up twice a night at this point to pee. Awake MULTIPLE TIMES changing positions and situating my pillows!
Best moment this week: Hitting 8 months, feeling LOTS of movement and hearing her heartbeat (that's always a best moment!)
Miss Anything? Wearing heels~My feet are just a little too puffy most days for me to rock the heels. Boots and sandals are still comfy though. Also missing Diet Coke! I treat myself once in awhile, but I was a D. Coke junkie before...so I had to give it up for the baby!
Movement: All the time, especially active in the evenings and mornings.
Food cravings: No cravings, just everything sounds good..ha!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Certain smells @ work still make me feel nauseated. But haven't been sick since about wk. 21-22
Have you started to show yet: See above photo.
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: Braxton hicks, I guess those aren't really a sign, but more a preparation for labor!
Belly Button in or out? In, but becoming flatter.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy...but emotional at times!

I'm back~

I know, I know, it's been waaaay too long! Little did I know that last time when I was blogging about shower curtains back in March, little baby Westphal was just beginning to form! I found out I was pregnant at just about 5 weeks...so I feel like I've been preggo awhile :) Although the summer made the pregnancy go super fast! My official due date is Nov. 30th and my hubby and I couldn't be more excited!

I debated for SO long what route I wanted to take with this nursery! I knew I wanted simple, a little shabby, and a little traditional. So... below is what I have come up with so far. I am excited to finally have a vision and a plan. I always thought I would know exactly how I wanted my nursery, but this was definitely a struggle for me!

So, here we go! I hope you can join me on this journey of putting the nursery together! I would love any ideas/pointers you can give me and just maybe I can inspire you too!

Oh..did I mention we're having a girl?!

One of the first things we did was paint the room back in August. We used a Benjamin Moore color called "Pink Cadillac" and I love it! It's shown in the pic below. It's a very soft pink in person.

This pic was taken with my phone, so the colors are not perfect, but you get the idea. We did stripes on one wall. This will be the wall the changing table/dresser in on. The stripes are 4 inches wide and are a color called "Shaker Beige" ...also a BM color.

I debated a VERY long time whether I wanted the Pottery Barn Kendall Crib or the vintage type Jenny Lind. I decided to go with the Pottery Barn crib. I like the traditional look of it, and just in case we ever have a baby boy, I thought this worked well with either gender!

Next is the bedding. I knew I wanted something super plain. Not a big fan of crazy prints or themes, so this ended up being the starting point of my nursery vision. It's the Pottery Barn Scallop Pique bedding in Pink. I really love it and just received it in the mail 2 days ago! I bought both white and pink sheets so I can change the look a little when I feel like it.

I decided I wanted to bring some green into the room to give it that Shabby Chic feel (more on that later)...and again after much debate went with the rug below...it even has a beige stripe in it that matches the stripes on the wall...l.o.v.e.!

I initially didn't want to spend a lot on window hardware, but just couldn't find anything I liked anywhere. So I ended up going with the pink hardware pictured below. I am IN LOVE with the knobs on the ends and I think they will grow with the room as she gets older.

Here is a picture of everything I have received so far. I am absolutely loving how it's going together. Notice the green frame? I ordered it from MySweetSavannah back at the beginning of the summer without a plan for it. It was a big part of my inspiration to bring the green into the nursery! I also made a sign last weekend that says "Always kiss me goodnight" and you can see a little of it below. I plan on hanging it above the closet.

I can't wait to share the progress with you along the way! Hoping to get the room completely cleared out, cleaned and start putting things in there this weekend. I will try to not be such a blog slacker and let you know how it goes!

Eni meni mini mo....

.....which shower curtain should I choose??

I have been MIA since before Christmas. Life has just been busy with the holidays and I have been busy with work in the new year! I have still been reading all your fabulous blogs, just haven't taken the time to keep mine up to date. I hope to start doing better!

The newest project in this household has been redoing our bathroom. It was needing repainted , so I figured why not just change it up since we had to paint anyway. I went with a light blue/green color called Pallidian Blue by Benjamin Moore. I am in LOVE with this color by the way! I got the idea from Melanie's bedroom at Pretties and Posies. Melanie's home and decor are absolutely gorgeous and she really has a way with words on her blog. Very inspiring woman.

My vanity, doors, and woodwork are all white and there is gray/white tile on the floor. I have a white waffle material shower curtain currently, but I have decided purchase one of the lovelives below from Anthro. The problem is...which one!?!

The first one pictured is a pure white curtain with pleating and ruffles at the bottom.

The second is a bustled shower curtain in a cream color. However, I have heard and read from consumers who have bought this shower curtain it is actually a light buttery yellow color unlike the pic shown. I'm not so sure that would look great with the blueish/green walls? However I love the crochet and lace details with the bustle on this one!

I might just order them both and then decide which I like better! I would love to hear what you think! Should I go with the contrast of the bustled curtain or stay with the pure white ruffles of the first curtain? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!

P.S. I finally got my Canon EOS for Christmas from my hubby, so I am busy working on my photography skills! Hopefully I will be posting a lot more pictures in the future once I figure everything out!

Simple and sweet~

This year I am really into a more simple look as far as Christmas decorating goes. Granted, I used a lot of the same things I use every year, however I tried to take a more natural, simple look and mix it up a little bit while still using a lot of my same decor. This included lots of natural elements such as white poinsettias, rosemary trees, real greenery, and pine cones. I also used a lot of just plain glass Christmas ball ornaments in different shapes, sizes, and colors.
